1 dead as bus carrying Ukrainian refugees crashes in Italy

Rome, Mar 13 (EFE).- One person died and five were injured Sunday when a bus carrying Ukrainian refugees crashed in northern Italy, emergency services said.

The accident occurred between the cities of Cesena and Forli on the Adriatic coast when the bus, which was traveling in a convoy of two, came off the road and overturned, local firefighters told Efe.

The cause of the accident is being investigated.

A 30-year-old woman was confirmed to have died after she became trapped under the vehicle. She had been traveling with her mother and two children, authorities said

A total of 50 people were traveling on the two buses. All passengers were Ukrainian refugees escaping the Russian invasion of their home country

The vehicles were traveling to the city of Rimini.

Italy has so far taken in 34,851 Ukrainian refugees, according to government data. EFE
