TBI: Teacher Paddled Elementary School Student While Assistant Principal Watched

JACKSON COUNTY, TN (WSMV) — The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has charged two Jackson County elementary school employees after a student was allegedly paddled by his teacher.
TBI said a Jackson County teacher, Jackson Alexander Patterson, 39, and a Jackson County assistant principal, Tena Janeice Lynn, 54, were both charged on Nov. 7. Patterson faces a simple assault charge, and Lynn faces a criminal responsibility of assault charge.
TBI launched an investigation on Oct. 10 with assistance from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Children Services. The agencies investigated the Oct. 4 incident, which claimed that a Dodson Branch Elementary Student was paddled twice at the school by Patterson.
Lynn was reportedly present at the time of the paddling, according to TBI.
The student was taken to a local hospital after complaining about pain in his buttocks.
Patterson and Lynn were arrested Tuesday and booked into the Jackson County Jail. Patterson’s bond was set at $2,500, and Lynn’s was set at $1,500.

CONDADO DE JACKSON, TN (LPL/WSMV) — La Oficina de Investigaciones de Tennessee acusó a dos empleados de una escuela primaria del condado de Jackson después de que un estudiante supuestamente fue golpeado por su maestro.
TBI dijo que un maestro del condado de Jackson, Jackson Alexander Patterson, de 39 años, y una subdirectora del condado de Jackson, Tena Janeice Lynn, de 54 años, fueron acusados el 7 de noviembre. Patterson enfrenta un cargo de agresión simple y Lynn enfrenta un cargo de responsabilidad penal por agresión.
TBI inició una investigación el 10 de octubre con la ayuda de la Oficina del Sheriff del Condado de Jackson y el Departamento de Servicios Infantiles. Según TBI, Lynn estaba presente en el momento del castigo.
El estudiante fue trasladado a un hospital local tras quejarse de dolor en las nalgas.
Patterson y Lynn fueron arrestados el martes e ingresados en la cárcel del condado de Jackson. La fianza de Patterson se fijó en $2.500 y la de Lynn en $1.500.
