Three quarters of UK adults have had first jab of Covid-19 vaccine

London, Jun 2 (EFE).- More than three quarters of adults in the United Kingdom have received a first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, Health Minister Matt Hancock said Wednesday.

Since the start of the UK’s vaccination campaign, a total of 39,585,665 people — equivalent to 75,2 % of over 18s — have been vaccinated with at least one of the two doses.

The UK surpassed the 75% milestone after recording on Tuesday zero Covid-19 deaths for the first time since the pandemic began over a year ago.

The encouraging news comes as the country prepares to lift all remaining restrictions on June 21.

Many in the scientific community, including UK government advisors, have advocated for the delay of full reopening over concerns over infection rates picking up due to new more infectious variants. EFE
