Berlin, May 11 (EFE).- Two people have died after a shooting at a Mercedes-Benz plant in Germany, the car manufacturer confirmed on Thursday.

“We are deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic news from Sindelfingen this morning,” a Mercedes-Benz statement read.

“Following the incident, we confirm that two persons have died. One person is in police custody,” the statement added.

The Ludwigsburg district police said a 53-year-old man entered the Mercedes-Benz plant in Sindelfingen, south, around 7:45 am (local time) and shot two people.

Plant security employees arrested the suspect on the spot and handed him over to the authorities, the police report added.

The deceased were two male factory workers aged 44 and they succumbed to their wounds after the attack. No other people were injured.

Police are still unaware of the assailant’s motive.
