MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) — Some mid-southerners spent hours trying to get their new license renewed, turns out a computer glitch was to blame.
Turns out this was happening at driver service offices across the state.
The Department of Homeland Security says it was notified of the computer outage affecting all 44 of the state’s driver services centers around 12:30 p.m. Monday afternoon. State leaders said while the computer systems were down statewide, technical support crews were working to resolve the issue.
According to the NBC station in Nashville, the outage caused computers to go down at a number of state departments including the Department of Children’s services, TennCare and Department of Human Services.
A state spokesperson says they have fixed the issue and should be back up and running today.
Monday’s outage is the second since October that lasted several hours. The prior one blamed on a failed software update.
Last month a ransom ware attack on Louisiana government computers took days for full restoration that affected its Office of Motor Vehicles and Child Protective Services.
