Hispanics Arrested for Carjacking

MEMPHIS, TN (MPD) — On December 22, 2023, at 11:18 pm, officers responded to a carjacking in the 3800 block of Cottonway. Officers were advised that the victim was sitting in his vehicle when he was approached by an unknown male. The male pointed a gun at him and demanded money and his vehicle in Spanish. The victim complied and the suspect fled in the victim’s 2010 black Toyota Corolla.
On December 27, 2023, at approximately 11:00 am, officers observed the Toyota Corolla at Winchester and Outland Road. The vehicle pulled into the River City Height Apartments. Officers attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle and 5 individuals ran from the vehicle. After a brief foot pursuit, officers took three of the individuals into custody.
A 14-year-old male was charged with Theft of Property $2,500-$10,000 and Evading Arrest on Foot.
A 13-year-old male was charged with Theft of Property $2,500-$10,000 and Evading Arrest on Foot.
Jenner Mendez, 22, was charged with Theft of Property $2,500-$10,000 and Evading Arrest on Foot. His bond has been set at $5,000.00.
