3 naval personnel killed in helicopter crash in Pakistan

Islamabad, Sep 4 (EFE).- Two officers and one soldier from the Pakistani navy died Monday in a helicopter crash in the southwestern part of the Asian country, the authorities said.

The navy said in a statement that the helicopter crashed during a training flight in Gwadar, in Balochistan province.

“The helicopter crashed during the flight due to a possible technical fault,” said a naval spokesperson, whose name was not revealed.

“As a result of the accident, two officers and one jawan (soldier) of the Pakistan Navy lost their lives,” the spokesperson added.

However, the statement did not reveal details about the location of the crash or if the incident resulted in any material damage on the ground.

The authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

Several senior officials, including the president and the prime minister, expressed their grief over the loss of lives in the crash.

Interim Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar expressed grief over the loss of lives in the helicopter crash and prayed for the bereaved, according to a statement from his office.

“The President prayed for high ranks for the martyrs, paid homage for their services to the country,” read a statement from the office of President Arif Alvi .

Former prime minister Shehbaz Sharif also expressed sorrow over the incident and solidarity with the bereaved families.

“Martyrs are making great sacrifices for the country and people,” Sharif said. EFE
