Bale confirms Real Madrid exit with farewell letter

Madrid, Jun 1 (EFE).- Gareth Bale on Wednesday bid farewell to Real Madrid at the end of an “incredible experience” that he said he cherished.

The Welshman ends a nearly a one-decade, bittersweet spell at the Spanish powerhouse that saw him achieving Champions League glory despite nagging injuries and limited action time over the past few seasons.

“I arrived here 9 years ago as a young man who wanted to realise my dream of playing for Real Madrid,” the 32-year-old wrote in a farewell message posted on social media.

He said he wanted “to wear the pristine white kit, to wear the crest on my chest, to play at the Santiago Bernabéu, to win titles and to be part of what it’s so famous for, to win the Champions League.

“I can now look back, reflect and say with honesty that this dream became a reality and much, much more.

“To be a part of this club’s history and to achieve what we achieved while I was a Real Madrid player, has been an incredible experience and one I will never forget, he said.

He also showed gratitude to the Real Madrid board for signing him from Tottenham for 101 million euros and to the fans for their support, but he did not reveal his future.

During this time at Real Madrid, he has won three LaLiga titles, one Copa del Rey, three Spanish Super Cups, five Champions Leagues, three Uefa Super Cups and four FIFA Club World Cups.

After a one-season loan at the Spurs, he played only seven games and scored just one goal for Real Madrid last season, in which the Merengue won the LaLiga title and a record-extending 14th Champions League trophy. EFE
