3,000 People participate in Madrid solidarity march for Ukraine

Madrid, May 28 (EFE).- Thousands of people on Saturday gathered in Madrid to take part in a solidarity march for Ukraine ‘Future Madrid x Ukraine’.

Former marathon world champions Abel Antón and Martín Fiz were among the 3,000 people who took part in the 5 km run clad in yellow or blue, the Ukrainian flag’s colors.

The event was promoted by Madrid Futuro, the Ukrainian embassy and the Madrid mayor’s office and was attended by 15 embassies to show their solidarity with the Ukrainian people.

The acting ambassador of Ukraine, Dmytro Matiuschenko kicked off the march in which Madrid’s mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida took part.

The funds raised from this initiative will be donated entirely to Caritas, the Red Cross and UNICEF, which collaborate with local associations to provide aid to Ukrainian refugees. EFE
