4 killed in attack on German hospital, female suspect arrested

Berlin, Apr 29 (EFE).- A woman has been arrested after four people were killed in an attack at a hospital in Potsdam, German police said Thursday.

The 51-year-old female employee of the medical center was arrested on “suspicion of homicide” following the incident on Wednesday evening, Brandenburg police said in a statement.

Police were called to the specialist orthopedic Oberlin Clinic in Potsdam, a city just southwest of the capital Berlin, shortly before 9pm on Wednesday.

One other person was seriously injured in the attack, police said, adding that an investigation was underway. No motive has been established.

Police found the five victims in several hospital rooms across one ward.

Early indications show that all of the victims’ injuries “can be traced back to severe, external use of force,” police said. EFE
