Melania Trump launches NFT platform with watercolor, audio message

Miami, Dec 16 (EFE) .- Former United States first lady Melania Trump announced Thursday the launch of her new NFT (non-fungible token) platform, kicking off a regular release of works with a digital watercolor of her eyes complete with an audio recording.

“I am proud to announce my new NFT endeavor, which embodies my passion for the arts, and will support my ongoing commitment to children through my Be Best initiative,” Trump said in a statement.

The first work, a piece titled “Melania’s Vision,” is a watercolor by French artist Marc-Antoine Coulon.

The statement adds that the work “embodies Mrs Trump’s cobalt blue eyes, providing the collector with an amulet to inspire. Melania’s Vision provides the collector with strength and hope.”

The work comes with an audio message of her saying: “My vision is: look forward with inspiration, strength and courage.”

The limited edition digital artwork is available on MelaniaTrump.com until Dec. 31 and costs 1 SOL, or roughly $178.67, according to the website.

A portion of the proceeds from the sales of the NFT collection “will assist children aging out of the foster care system by way of economic empowerment and with expanded access to resources needed to excel in the fields of computer science and technology.”

Trump said she will release NFTs at regular intervals and announced a “one-of-a-kind auction of historical importance” in January 2022, which includes three elements: digital art, physical art and a unique physical accessory.

The platform will use Solana blockchain protocol and will accept both SOL cryptocurrency and credit cards.

The statement indicated that the sale is ‘powered’ by the controversial social network Parler, popular with right-wing America and a hub for misinformation and conspiracy theories.

“Parler has attracted a range of right-wing extremists,” the Anti-Defamation League said in November 2020.

“Proud Boys, QAnonadherents, anti-government extremists (Oath Keepers, Three Percenters and militia) and white supremacists (from members of the alt right to accelerationists) openly promote their ideologies on the site, while Holocaust denial, antisemitism, racism and other forms of bigotry are also easy to find.”

Parler was practically inoperative since January, after the US Capitol assault by supporters of Melania Trump’s husband and former president Donald Trump, until mid-May.

The launch of the NFT platform is Melania Trump’s first public initiative since her husband left the presidency in January. EFE
