Germany show little fire in 2-0 win against Liechtenstein
Sports Desk, Sep 2 (EFE).- Germany failed to impress Thursday as they beat lowly Liechtenstein 2-0 in a World Cup qualifier notable mainly for former Bayern Munich coach Hansi Flick’s debut at the helm of Die Mannschaft.
The victory lifts Germany to second place in Group J with 9 points, 1 behind the surprising Armenia side and 2 points better than North Macedonia.
Flick signaled his intention to shake up the team with the inclusion in the starting 11 of Jamal Musiala, who was just 17 last year when he began his senior career at Bayern.
The youngster repaid his coach’s confidence by delivering a fabulous deep ball to set up Timo Werner’s goal in the 41st minute.
When the match clock reached 60 minutes and the margin was still just 1-0, Flick made a triple substitution, but the completely overmatched Liechtenstein side maintained their poise.
