BTS to hold first in-person concerts since 2019 in US

Seoul, Sep 28 (EFE).- Global K-pop phenomenon BTS will hold their first live concerts in two years in Los Angeles in the United States between the end of November and the beginning of December, their label announced on Tuesday.

The concerts, dubbed “BTS Permission to Dance on Stage- LA,” will take place on Nov. 27 and 28 and Dec. 1 and 2 at the Sofi Stadium in the US west coast city.

These will be the first in-person concerts by the seven-member K-pop boyband since June 2019 in Seoul after they canceled their “Map of the Soul” world tour scheduled for 2020 due to the global health crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic, Big Hit Music, the group’s agency, said in a statement.

“Holding an in-person concert in the midst of Covid-19 is not easy, but after looking for opportunities to do so, we are able to hold the concert in the United States after taking the national and regional health regulations and circumstances into consideration,” it added in reference to the pandemic-related restrictions that are still in effect in many countries, including South Korea, where large scale events are prohibited.

“We will do our best to put on additional concerts for not only Korean fans but fans from all around the world who have been patiently waiting for a long time,” Big Hit promised.

BTS has been offering online performances during the pandemic, including several through the social media app Weverse.

“We’re working hard to compensate you for your long wait so please look forward to it,” said J-Hope, one of the members of the band in a video announcing the concerts.

In January 2020, before the release of their fourth studio album “Map of the Soul: 7”, the group had announced a tour consisting of almost 40 concerts in cities across three continents.

But the pandemic forced the band, formed by RM, Jimin, Jin, J-Hope, V, Suga, and Jungkook, to first postpone the tour and later cancel it in August last year. EFE
