Thousands take to London’s streets in support of Palestinians

London, May 22 (EFE).- Thousands of people on Saturday took to central London’s streets in solidarity with Palestinians after a ceasefire put an end to 11 days of violence between Israel’s army and Gaza militants.

Holding Free Palestine banners, the demonstrators gathered at Victoria Embankment and headed to Hyde Park.

The protesters, some of whom had the colors of the Palestinian flag painted on their faces and masks, repeated slogans including “Israel is a terrorist state” and “We are all Palestinians.”

As they passed by Downing Street, the Prime Minister’s residence, they chanted “Boris Johnson, shame on you”.

The rally demanded the end of “the Israeli occupation” of Palestinian territory and criticized the Israeli airstrikes that left many dead, including women and children, activists told local media.

The protest came after a ceasefire came into force on Friday morning between Israel and Gaza after 11 days of violence that killed 232 Palestinians in the Strip and 12 people in Israel. EFE
