Kellie Pickler’s husband Kyle Jacobs dead by apparent suicide: police

Los Angeles, US, Feb 17 (EFE).- Country singer Kyle Jacobs, the husband of fellow artist Kellie Pickler, was found dead in an “apparent suicide” at his home in Nashville, police said on Friday. He was 49.

Police in the eastern US city said they responded to an emergency call from Jacobs and Pickler’s home in the afternoon.

Upon arrival at the scene, the police and firefighters “located resident Kyle Jacobs, 49, deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in an upstairs bedroom,” a police statement said. “His death is being investigated as an apparent suicide.”

Pickler married Jacobs in 2011.

Her personal staff contacted the emergency service after they could not find her husband around in the house.

“(They) did not see her husband, and began looking for him. After she and her personal assistant were unable to open the door to the upstairs bedroom/office, the assistant telephoned 911.”

Pickler began her career on the fifth season of the reality show “American Idol” and was later recognized for participating in the “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader” contest.

Along with Jacobs, she starred in three seasons of the show “I Love Kellie Pickler,” which focused on her life as a singer and her relationships. The show aired on the country music channel CMT.

Jacobs had written several hit songs, including Garth Brooks’ 2007 hit “More Than a Memory” and Tim McGraw’s 2009 song “Still.”

As a country music singer, songwriter, guitarist, and pianist, Jacobs worked for artists like Brooks, Kimberley Locke, Darius Rucker, and Tim McGraw.

He won an Academy of Country Music Award in 2014 for his work as a producer on Lee Brice’s “I Drive Your Truck.” EFE
