Altetico Madrid’s stadium becomes Covid-19 vaccination hub

Madrid, Feb 25 (efe-epa).- The home stadium of La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid opened its doors Thursday as authorities in the Spanish capital started to vaccinate teachers, police officers, firefighters and civil defense personnel against Covid-19.

Teachers aged over 55 years can also receive their doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine at healthcare centers in addition to the Wanda Metropolitano Stadium in the Spanish capital.

Seniors aged 80 and above in Madrid are getting vaccinated starting Friday in healthcare centers, joining older residents of other Spanish autonomous regions.

The regional government is planning to administer 50,000 doses between 25 February and 1 March. Another 80,000 seniors are expected to be vaccinated in healthcare centers between 2-5 March if vaccine shipments arrive in time. EFE-EPA
