Alvarez fires Man City to 1-0 win over Newcastle

Sports Desk, Aug 19 (EFE).- Manchester City overcame a determined Newcastle on Saturday night with a narrow 1-0 win at the Etihad Stadium.

Julian Alvarez scored the game’s only goal when he fired in a powerful shot into the top corner from the edge of the box on the half-hour mark.

City dominated possession for most of the match but failed to add a second goal that would have put the game to bed.

Newcastle threatened to mount a comeback but were unable to turn their late possession into any meaningful chances as City held on for an ultimately comfortable victory. EFE
