Expobelleza para apoyar a pacientes con cáncer

Beauty Expo to Support Cancer Patients

MEMPHIS, TN (localmemphis.com) — A Memphis beauty expo was about so much more than meets the eye.

The Mid-South Cosmetology and Barber Association and the Grizzlies teamed up to put together what they called a “party with a purpose.”

Sunday’s Beauty and Barber Basketball Expo at FedEx Forum included all the features of your typical beauty-and-hair show event.

Stylists donated custom wigs to West Cancer Clinic patients and a portion of ticket sales will go to the Susan G. Komen organization.

Vendors included non-profits like Mary Jenkins’ “Hairstyles for Hope.”

Jenkins said she is a two-time cancer survivor who is now raising money to help other cancer patients pay their bills.

“We’re the ones that when a person is taking time off from work and they need help paying their electric bill, gas bill, water bill, house note, things of that nature,” said Jenkins.

With hundreds turning out for the event, organizers said they did not have problems getting people to show up and help with their cause.
