Greenland confirms first coronavirus case

Copenhagen, Mar 16 (efe-epa) – Greenland authorities on Monday confirmed the first coronavirus case in the Kingdom of Denmark.

The infected person, who had recently returned from a trip abroad, is quarantined at home in the capital Nuuk, and their condition is not serious.

Greenland provisionally closed its borders to foreigners as of last Saturday, following the order issued by Copenhagen for the entire Danish territory, from which those with residence permits are excluded.

The island is more than 2 million square kilometres in size, almost 80% of which is covered in ice, and hosts a population of 56,000 people. EFE-EPA
