Pokémon Go está promoviendo tecnologías importantes.

ENGLISH:

An interesting app which utilizes map data to place players in a virtual environment, Pokémon Go has taken the world by storm. A throwback to the original series, Pokémon has been able to bridge the gap between older fans and younger ones, making it one of the most successful apps ever created. But what is it that makes this game so popular with people of all ages?

First of all, Pokémon Go is accessible to a large audience. A free game available on most smartphones garners a lot of interest from those who don’t want to pay for games. The game is also relatively simple, which attracts people of all ages. By placing different creatures randomly throughout the world, Pokémon Go’s highly addictive nature has people coming back for more.

By grounding itself firmly in the real world, Pokémon Go creates tremendous interaction between the players, much more than any game before. Pokémon Go encourages players to go outside to find different creatures, often resulting in groups of players meeting and befriending each other. A deeply social app, Pokémon Go truly connects players face-to-face.

An interesting use of GPS, Pokémon Go could very well lay the foundation for future social applications. Though simple concepts, many apps such as Food Cowboy utilize similar GPS and social functions to allot surplus food to soup kitchens and shelters. Pokémon Go is pioneering important technologies.
