‘Answers are in your hands’, Zelenskyy tells France

Paris, Mar 23 (EFE).- Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Wednesday urged French lawmakers to encourage Russia to seek peace and to support Kyiv’s bid to join the European Union.

“I would like to ask you a question: how can we stop this war? How can we bring about peace in Ukraine? Because most of the answers are in your hands,” Zelenskyy said during a video address to the French parliament.

In his latest speech to a Western legislative assembly following similar virtual appearances at the European Parliament and the US Congress among others, the Ukrainian leader appealed for more support to stop the war.

“It is important to look for the truth and we find the truth on the battlefield,” he pointed out.

Although Zelenskyy praised the support France has given Ukraine, he urged French businesses to pull out of Russia, saying that “values are more important than profit, human lives are more important than profit.”

He also said that Ukraine is grateful for all of French president Emmanuel Macron’s constant communication efforts, and called for more military aid and more pressure on Russia to force it to halt its onslaught.

Zelenskyy went on to decry the Russian attacks on civilians in Ukraine, including the strikes on the children’s hospital in the city of Mariupol.EFE
