Modi calls for consensus for developing digital economy among G20 countries
New Delhi, Aug 19 (EFE).- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed on Saturday the need to build consensus among G20 countries to develop principles to meet the current challenges of the digital economy.
“Important to build consensus on the G20 High-Level Principles for a Secure, Trusted, and Resilient Digital Economy,” Modi said at the G20 Digital Innovation Alliance (DIA) Summit in Bangalore.
He underlined that the G20, under India’s presidency, offers a “unique opportunity to lay the foundations for an inclusive, prosperous, and secure global digital future.”
““With such diversity, India is an ideal lab for solutions. Solution which succeeds in India can be easily applied anywhere in the world,” Modi said, according to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office.
At the G20 Finance Ministers’ meeting on July 18, India had expressed its distrust of cryptocurrencies as forms of payment, after the Financial Stability Board (FSB) urge all countries in the world to apply the international regulation of crypto assets and stable cryptocurrencies that it recommends.
The FSB wants issuers of crypto-assets to provide full and transparent information on what they do and the manner they go about it.
More than 200 foreign delegates are taking part in this G20 summit on digital economy, ahead of the summit of Heads of State of the G20, scheduled for Sep. 9 and 10. EFE
