At least 14 killed in landslide in central China

Beijing, Jan 4 (EFE).- At least 14 people have been killed in a landslide in the vicinity of the city of Bijie, situated in the central Guizhou province, state news agency Xinhua reported.

So far 17 people have been rescued alive, out of which three have been admitted in a hospital and were in a stable condition.

The incident took place at 7 pm, in an area where a training center for a hospital was being constructed, local authorities said.

The government have ended rescue work, and the cause of the accident is still being investigated, Xinhua said.

Around 720 personnel from the firefighting services, public security, and emergency services participated in the rescue works.

According to local media outlets in the Guizhou, the amount of land displaced in the incident was around 30,000 cubic meters, along with 5,000 cubic meters of rocks. EFE
