Mexico City, Oct 1 (EFE).- A church collapsed during a baptism ceremony in Ciudad Madero, in the northern Mexican state of Tamaulipas, on Sunday, killing at least three people and injuring others.

Ciudad Madero Mayor Adrián Oseguera said two women and a child had died.

Local authorities have not announced the number of injured or trapped.

The accident occurred around 3.30 pm (21:30 GMT) as families made up of people of all ages were at the scene.

Security camera footage from across the street and published on social media showed the moment in which the roof collapsed into the interior of the building.

The incident happened so suddenly that there was no time to evacuate the church.
