At least 4 dead in shooting at military base in northern India
New Delhi, Apr 12 (EFE).- At least four people died Wednesday in a shooting at a military base in the state of Punjab, in northern India, an official source said, without providing further details on the incident.
“Firing incident reported in the early hours of the morning around 0435h inside Bathinda Military Station. Station Quick Reaction Teams were activated. Area was cordoned off and sealed,” the army said in a statement.
The authorities reported that at least four people died in the shooting, while an investigation is underway to clarify more details about the incident.
Senior Superintendent of Bathinda Police, Gulneet Khuruna, ruled out a terrorist attack in statements reported by India’s Hindustan Times newspaper.
Located in the northern state of Punjab, Bathinda military base is one of the main bases of the Indian Army’s South Western Command. EFE
