At least 5 Ukrainian civilians killed in fresh Russian attack

Kyiv, Mar 9 (EFE).- At least five civilians died in fresh Russian attacks Thursday on the Ukrainian regions of Lviv and Dnipropetrovsk, said officials.

Ukrainian officials said the Russian forces fired several missiles in a barrage of attacks on different areas that also wounded many civilians.

Maksym Kozytskyi, the Lviv region military head, said a Russian missile hit a residential area, causing a fire.

“There are four dead. All adults. Two men and two women,” he said on his Telegram channel.

Kozytskyi said the victims were home when the missile hit the residential complex.

Rescue teams combed the rubble for anyone trapped below. At least one person was reported missing.

Kozytskyi said the fire destroyed at least three residential structures.

Russian forces also attacked the Dnipropetrovsk region with drones and missiles, killing one civilian and wounding two more, regional military head Serhii Lysak said.

Lysak identified the deceased as a 34-year-old man “who was killed in an artillery shell.”

“A 28-year-old woman and a 19-year-old boy were injured. They were hospitalized,” said Lysak.

After several weeks of relative calm on the front, Russia launched a new barrage of attacks on Wednesday morning on 10 Ukrainian regions.

These include the capital Kyiv and two other major cities of Kharkiv and Odesa.

The Russians used dozens of cruise missiles fired from the Black Sea to target electrical infrastructure. But some of them have hit residential areas. EFE
