At least 6 civilians killed in Russian strikes in Kherson, authorities say

Kyiv, Feb 21 (EFE).- At least six people have been killed in Russian shelling of Ukraine’s southern city of Kherson, regional authorities said Tuesday.

Twelve others were injured in the strikes that hit a bus stop, residential areas, a nursery, a hospital, parking lots and infrastructure facilities, according to the Ukrainian army’s Operational Command South.

“Russia is heavily shelling Kherson,” a statement on Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s official Twitter page read.

“Missiles against people, residential buildings, pharmacies, markets, vehicle parks…,” it added.

Kherson, which was recaptured by Ukraine last year, had been attacked up to 58 times in the past 24 hours, Ukrainian authorities said.

The strikes carried out with multiple rocket launchers came as Russian president Vladimir Putin delivered his long-delayed annual state of the nation address, days before the first anniversary of his invasion of Ukraine.EFE
