Chelsea top Crystal Palace, set up FA Cup final clash vs Liverpool

London, Apr 17 (EFE).- Chelsea on Sunday set up a FA Cup final against Liverpool with a 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace thanks to goals from Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Mason Mount.

The scoreless deadlock continued throughout the first half between a seemingly exhausted Chelsea and Crystal Palace, the latter ranked No. 13 on the Premier League table.

It was not until the 65th minute that super-sub Loftus-Cheek opened the scoring on a powerful shot from inside the area that deflected slightly off of Joachim Andersen.

Eleven minutes later, the Blues hit again on a close-range shot by Mount to secure the victory, which gives them a chance to fight for their ninth FA Cup and their first since 2018.

Chelsea are aspiring to become the team with the third-most titles in this competition, behind only Arsenal (14) and Manchester United (12).

Liverpool, who made the final after defeating Manchester City 3-2 on Saturday, will be chasing their eighth FA Cup title.

It will be a replay of the EFL Cup final held in February, which the Reds won on a penalty shootout.
