Iga Swiatek remains No.1 despite missing Miami Open

Madrid, Apr 3 (EFE).- Poland’s Iga Swiatek, who did not participate in the Miami tournament due to a rib injury, remained Monday number one in the WTA ranking much ahead in points of Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka.

The Miami Open was won by the Czech, Petra Kvitova, as she secured the 30th career title, defeating Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan.

Besides Swiatek, Sabalenka and the American Jessica Pegula, retained their spots at number two and three, respectively, while Kvitova moved up three places to 12th.

France’s Caroline Garcia moved up one spot to 4th, ahead of the Tunisian, Ons Jabeur, who slipped to 5th.

Rybakina climbed three positions after the Miami final and is now 7th in the ranking, while Greece’s Maria Sakkari slipped from 8th to 10th. EFE
