A principios de esta semana, el representante estatal Antonio Parkinson y el alcalde de Memphis, Jim Strickland, dieron a conocer los planes para el nuevo Raleigh Farmers Market y Parque Comunitario, que se ubicará a menos de una milla del desarrollo del lugar.

MEMPHIS, TN (Daily Memphian) — After several delays, construction has resumed at Raleigh Springs Town Center and the site is expected to be open by early 2020.
The $45 million, 65-acre development includes a new Raleigh Library, skate park, 11-acre lake and walking trail, and a police precinct/traffic station. The development is at the site of the former Raleigh Springs Mall, which was demolished by the city before breaking ground on the project.
The delays are attributed to 2019 being an extremely wet year and the city having to dig out underground building remnants at the site before resuming construction, said Mary Claire Borys, manager of strategic initiatives for the city’s division of Housing and Community Development.
“It’s been a very challenging construction, but it’s still moving along,” Borys said.
Earlier this week, State. Rep Antonio Parkinson and Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland unveiled plans for a new Raleigh Farmers Market and Community Park, which will be located less than a mile from the Raleigh Springs Town Center development.
Currently, the Raleigh community only has a farmers market on the third Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Breath of Life Christian Center. Plans for the community park include a Little League football field, walking track and an amphitheater.
Parkinson, whose district includes Raleigh, said the news is a sign of more good things to come to the area, and will help rebuild community pride.
