Sumy military authority: Over 100 civilians dead, evidence of torture

Kyiv, Apr 13 (EFE).- Over a hundred civilians were killed by the Russian troops an unknown number are still missing in northern Ukraine’s Sumy region, the head of its military administration Dmytro Zhyvytskyi said on Wednesday.

“More than 100 civilians were killed. But, unfortunately, this number grows every day, because bodies are found, with their hands tied, with traces of torture, with shots to the head,” he said according to local media.

There are still many people missing and shot-up and abandoned cars have been found in forested areas of the region with the whereabouts of their occupants unknown, he added.

“The invaders fired at everything around them, from tanks, with machine guns and grenade launchers against civilians and old people with children. Our people hid in the swamps, on farms, in silos,” he said.

Besides the fatalities, the region’s economy has suffered major losses in “profits not obtained, taxes not paid and companies that do not work,” he added. EFE
