Atletico beat Elche to go 3rd in LaLiga

Sports Desk, May 11 (EFE).- Antoine Griezmann solidified his return to form Wednesday, playing a role in both goals for Atletico Madrid in a 2-0 away win against Elche that boosted the Colchoneros to third place in LaLiga and assured them of a spot in the 2022-2023 Champions League.

Atleti climbed to 67 points, 1 better than Sevilla and 6 more than Real Betis with two games to play. Elche, meanwhile, are secure on 39 points, 6 above the drop zone.

The visitors took the lead in the 28th minute when Matheus Cunha redirected a Renan Lodi cross at the culmination of a sequence that began at the other end of the pitch with Griezmann.
