Antetokounmpo’s Bucks shut out Suns to win to 1st NBA title in 50 years
Milwaukee, US, Jul 20 (EFE).- Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Milwaukee Bucks to their first NBA championship win in 50 years on Tuesday after beating the Phoenix Suns 105-98 in Game 6 of the NBA Finals and sealing the best-of-seven series 4-2.
Star forward Antetokounmpo scored an impressive 50 points and 14 rebounds to take the Bucks to their first NBA title since 1971.
He also won the NBA Finals MVP award for his phenomenal performance throughout the entire series.
The Bucks were down 0-2 in the series after the first two games in Phoenix, but came back to win the next four games and take the title amid their fans’ chant of “Bucks in six!” (the Bucks win in six games).
Excitement and tension filled the game as the Bucks and Suns reached the fourth quarter tied at 77.
Khris Middleton, with 17 points, also pitched in to guide his team to a tight finish against the Suns.
The Bucks also benefited from an uncharacteristically poor performance by Devin Booker, who had been extraordinary in the playoffs for the Suns but only managed 19 points on 8-of-22 shooting in this crucial game.
Chris Paul, who, at age 36 played and lost his first finals, was the Suns’ leading scorer with 26 points and five assists.
Thousands of people gathered around the packed Fiserv Forum to watch the game on giant screens. EFE
