Hundreds of people protest in Rome against Covid-19 certificate
Rome, Jul 27 (EFE).- Hundreds of people gathered in Rome on Tuesday to protest coronavirus regulations that will require people to be fully vaccinated to be able to access certain services such as indoor dining.
The rally was organized by the Io Apro, which groups hospitality workers who oppose the closure of their businesses.
The Rome protest was the latest in a series in different parts of Italy to protest the government’s plans, although the numbers were far less than expected.
From 6 August, the Covid health certificate, which is valid from the first jab of the coronavirus vaccine, will be a requirement to access bars, restaurants, cinemas, theaters, gyms and large events.
The document shows if the holder is fully vaccinated, has recovered from the virus or has a recent negative test.
The protests are to continue over the coming days, with rallies expected in a dozen cities on Wednesday.
Italy has been experiencing a spike in cases due to the Delta variant, although the death rates are much lower than before.
Thus far, over 30.5 million people, 56.58 percent of the adult population over 12 years old, have been fully immunized. EFE
