Sismo en el sur de México remece edificios en la capital

6.6 quake Hits Southern Mexico, Sways Buildings in Capital

CIUDAD DE MÉXICO (AP) — Un fuerte sismo que se produjo en el sur de México se sintió a cientos de kilómetros en la capital, donde remeció edificios altos.

Según el Servicio Geológico de Estados Unidos, el temblor tuvo una magnitud preliminar de 6.6 y centro a 67 kilómetros de profundidad a unos 20 kilómetros de Tapachula, en el estado sureño de Chiapas.

El temblor también se sintió en la vecina Guatemala, así como en la capital y la zona occidental de El Salvador.

En Ciudad de México algunas personas evacuaron edificios en una avenida céntrica.

MEXICO CITY (AP) — A strong earthquake struck Friday near the coast of southern Mexico, causing tall buildings to sway hundreds of miles away in the capital.

The U.S. Geological Survey reported that the quake had a magnitude of 6.6 and was centered about 10 miles (16 kilometers) from Tapachula in the southern state of Chiapas. It struck at a depth of 40 miles (67 kilometers).

The quake was also felt in nearby Guatemala and farther away in El Salvador.

Some people evacuated office buildings along a central boulevard in Mexico City.
