Beijing, Apr 1 (efe-epa).- Five of the venues that will host the 2022 Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games will be on trial from Thursday until Apr. 10 with a series of local competitions.
What will be the Olympic and Paralympic ice hockey, speed skating and wheelchair curling venues, among others, will be subjected to the demands of 700 Chinese athletes and coaches for the next 10 days, state newspaper China Daily reported Thursday.
According to the source, these tests are being carried out “under careful protocols for Covid-19” to “ensure the safety of all participants during the global health crisis.”
Four of the five venues mentioned were the scene of different events during the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics.
In February, organizers carried out a series of tests to test the snow sports slopes.
Organizers said that between October and December, technical tests will be carried out with international personnel related to the broadcast of the great winter sports event. These are scheduled between Feb. 4 and Feb. 20, 2022 in the case of the Olympians, while the Paralympics will take place between Mar. 4 and 13, 2022.
With these games, Beijing will become the first city in the world to host a summer and a winter Olympic competition. EFE-EPA
