French astronaut Pesquet returns to Earth after six long months in space
Berlin, Nov 12 (EFE).- Something as ordinary as a hot shower has become a treat for French astronaut Thomas Pesquet, who has spent the last six months orbiting Earth from the International Space Station ISS.
Pesquet, an astronaut for the European Space Agency, was one of the four astronauts on the SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule which landed on Earth this week after 199 days in space.
Life in space can be very boring, said Pesquet.
“If you have nothing to do all day, it feels like a prison with a very good view. You are limited to doing things. Activity is what saves us, that’s why we’re constantly busy,” he told a press conference.
Pesquet returned to Earth with NASA astronauts Shane Kimbrough, Megan McArthur and JAXA astronaut Akihiko Hohside in the early hours of November 9.
The French astronaut is the first European to travel to space and back in a commercial spacecraft and also to have spent the longest time in space.
His dream is to become the first European astronaut to go on the moon.
“Setting foot on the moon would be the most exciting thing, there has never been a European,” he said. EFE
