Benzema tests positive for Covid-19 upon return to Real Madrid

Madrid, Jul 23 (EFE).- Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has tested positive for Covid-19, the Spanish club announced Friday.

The France international had returned to club duty following Euro 2020 action and a period of vacation.

Real Madrid gave no further detail in a brief statement announcing the news.

The striker was Madrid’s top goalscorer in the 2020/21 LaLiga season with 23.

Carlo Ancelotti’s team are due to play a preseason friendly away to Scottish club Rangers on Sunday. EFE
