Sydney in Australia records wettest year in 160 years

Sydney, Australia, Oct 6 (EFE).- The Australian city of Sydney has registered the highest amount of annual rainfall since records started being kept more than 160 years ago, official sources said Thursday.

The Observatory Hill, linked to the Australian Bureau of Meteorology, reported that as of 3pm, the annual rainfall for the current year was 2,230 millimeters in Sydney, exceeding the previous highest of 2,194 millimeters recorded in 1950.

More rain is expected in the coming days as a storm looms over Australia’s most populated city, and with another three months to go before the year ends.

Rains and floods in eastern Australia have caused the death of 20 people in 2022, while causing millions of dollars of material damages. EFE
