Billionaire Faiq Bolkiah prepares to debut at Maritimo

Lisbon, Sep 25 (efe-epa).- Faiq Bolkiah, the richest soccer player in the world, is preparing to make his debut debut at Portuguese club Maritimo.
He could join the squad on Saturday when the Primeira Liga side takes on Tondela.
Bolkiah, who is the son of the Prince of Brunei and has a fortune valued at $20 billion, completed training on Friday with the rest of his new teammates at their ground in Funchal.
Until now the 22-year-old winger has played for the youth or reserve teams at several English clubs but has not made any appearances in the Premier League.
Maritimo started the league with a defeat after losing in the first round against Santa Clara by 2-0.
The side will try to get their first points in the season on Saturday at Estádio dos Barreiros in Funchal.
Their opponents Tondela started the season with a 1-1 result against Rio Ave, who came back from behind with a goal by Japanese midfielder Ryotaro Meshino.
Bolkiah was available on the transfer market after leaving England’s Leicester City’s junior categories in the summer.
“I am very pleased to be here and to have made this decision. I’m sure this is the right club for me and my career,” he said in a statement released by Maritimo upon his arrival.
“My objectives are to always give my best in every training session and match, to evolve and help the team.”
