‘World’s first unisex condom’ created by Malaysian company

Kuala Lumpur, Oct 29 (EFE).- A Malaysian company claims it has created the world’s first unisex condom that, in addition to being able to be worn by all genders, covers more skin area to prevent sexually transmitted infections.

The prophylatic, called Wondaleaf Unisex Condom, was developed by Malaysian gynecologist John Tang and his company Twin Catalyst.

“Wondaleaf Unisex Condom’s default configuration is an internal condom, but the centrally located non-adhesive pouch can be inverted to become an external condom,” says the website of the company, which currently only sells the product in Malaysia.

It features an extended adhesive shield that covers the entire external genitalia to prevent direct skin contact.

“Because Wondaleaf Unisex Condom is an adhesive condom, it can be put on before any foreplay, preventing any interruption. This also means that it will not slip off during intercourse, making it a much safer contraceptive. Its wide shield covers the entire pubic area, preventing contact STDs,” the website says.

Made of polyurethane, medical grade material commonly used to dress injuries and wounds, it is about a quarter of the thickness of a regular condom.

The company says the material is also safe for those with latex allergies. EFE
