Blackpink’s ‘Boombayah’ video tops 1.6 billion YouTube views

Seoul, Jul 4 (EFE).- The music video for K-Pop band Blackpink’s song “Boombayah” surpassed 1.6 billion views on YouTube on Tuesday, according to the group’s agency YG Entertainment.

“Boombayah,” the South Korean group’s 2016 debut song, reached the milestone at 6.50 am local time (21:50 GMT), six years and 11 months after the girl group released their first EP “Square One.”

Consisting of Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé and Lisa, Blackpink is the band with the most YouTube followers in the world, with close to 90 million subscribers.

It also has two other songs that have broken the barrier of 1.6 billion views: “Ddu-du Ddu-du” and “Kill This Love.”

The band released their second studio album “Born Pink” in September and began a world tour in October, in addition to headlining at Coachella music festival in April. EFE
