Bomb threat forces Eiffel Tower evacuation

Paris, Aug 12 (EFE).- A bomb threat prompted the French police to evacuate the Eiffel Tower and its surrounding areas in Paris on Sunday.
The site was temporarily closed to the public as police began clearing three floors of the monument and nearby areas around 1.30 pm.
Local newspaper Le Parisien said the iconic tourist destination was cleared as a “precautionary measure.”
The origin of the bomb alert remains unknown.
The evacuation affected the restaurant and the square around the 330-meter-high structure, located in the VII district of Paris.
SETE, the agency responsible for managing the site, receives an average of around 6 million visitors every year, making the Eiffel Tower one of the most frequently visited landmarks in the world. EFE
