People in Chinese city must present negative PCR test to work
Beijing, Dec 20 (EFE).- People in Xi’an, China, must present a negative nucleic acid test in the previous 48 hours to be able to go to work starting Monday, state-owned media The Paper reported.
There are 49 active positive Covid-19 cases in the city, which has a population of around 10 million inhabitants, according to the latest data provided by the health authorities.
A total of 21 of the 49 active cases were detected on Sunday.
The city’s government has canceled face-to-face classes in primary and secondary schools as well as kindergartens.
The Xi’an authorities have announced that nucleic acid testing is available round the clock in some health centers.
Some neighborhoods in the Yanta district, in the center of the city, were closed over the weekend to prevent possible infections.
China continues with its zero-tolerance policy towards the coronavirus.
Local governments order selective confinements and massive coronavirus tests in the areas where cases appear.
The total number of active infections in mainland China stands at 1,736, according to the National Health Commission.
A total of 100,386 cases have been detected in the country since the start of the pandemic, including 4,636 deaths. EFE
