Pope says visit to Ukraine ‘on the table’

On board the papal plane, Apr 2 (EFE).- Pope Francis said on Saturday that the possibility of papal visit to Kyiv was “on the table.”

The pontiff made the comments to reporters on board his flight to Malta, where is due to make a two day visit.

Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko have both invited the head of the Catholic Church to visit Ukraine in a show of support for Ukrainian people against Russia’s military invasion, which Francis has repeatedly criticized.

The pope spoke with Zelenskyy in a telephone call on 22 March. EFE
