Man Hurt After Shooting on Summer Avenue
Hombre herido tras tiroteo en Summer Avenue

MEMPHIS, TN (WREG) — A man is in the hospital after a shooting on Summer Avenue Wednesday afternoon.
Police say two people were detained and one man was taken to Methodist North in non-critical condition.
A witness we spoke with claims the shooting happened when a man tried to stop thieves from stealing his trailer. He claims that the man was walking out of a store in a shopping center at Summer and White Station when he spotted several other men hitching the trailer from his truck onto theirs. He raced to confront them and then allegedly started shooting at them as they sped away and tried to run him over.
The witness doesn’t know if anyone was hit but claims the thieves crashed into an innocent driver on Summer Avenue while making their escape.
Investigators haven’t said if that driver was the one taken to the hospital.
It’s doubtful the man who allegedly shot at the thieves will face charges. Investigators say he fired in self-defense when they tried to run him over.
Police say one of the suspects got away in a white Cadillac SUV with a broken window.

La policía dice que dos personas fueron detenidas y un hombre fue llevado al Hospital Methodist North en estado no crítico.
Un testigo afirma que el tiroteo ocurrió cuando un hombre trató de evitar que los ladrones robaran su remolque. Afirma que el hombre estaba saliendo de una tienda en un centro comercial en Summer and White Station cuando vio a varios otros hombres enganchando el remolque de su camión al de ellos. Corrió para confrontarlos y luego supuestamente comenzó a dispararles mientras se alejaban a toda velocidad y trataban de atropellarlo.
El testigo no sabe si alguien resultó herido, pero afirma que los ladrones chocaron contra un conductor inocente en Summer Avenue mientras escapaban.
Los investigadores no han dicho si ese conductor era el que fue llevado al hospital.
Es dudoso que el hombre que supuestamente disparó a los ladrones enfrente cargos. Los investigadores dicen que disparó en defensa propia cuando intentaron atropellarlo.
La policía dice que uno de los sospechosos escapó en un Cadillac SUV blanco con una ventana rota.
