Cadiz hold Barcelona 0-0

Sports Desk, Sep 23 (EFE).- FC Barcelona had to settle for a 0-0 draw Thursday with Cadiz, who would have taken all 3 points but for a pair of good stops by visiting goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

While still undefeated, the Blaugrana sit seventh in the LaLiga table with 9 points, 7 behind leaders Real Madrid

Cadiz are 14th with 6 points.

The Catalan side had nearly 70 percent possession, but put only two shots on target, both the work of Memphis Depay, before being reduced to 10 men in the 65th minute with the expulsion of Frenkie de Jong.

The Dutchman was already on a yellow card when he made a clumsy challenge against Alfonso Espino.

Cadiz supporters watched in dismay as Fali Gimenez, a favorite since helping the club secure promotion to the top-flight, left the pitch on a stretcher after injuring his knee with eight minutes left in the first half.

But Alvaro Negredo forced a save from Ter Stegen early in the second half before Barça generated anything going forward and the German keeper was called on again in the final 10 minutes to deny Salvi Sanchez. EFE
