Campaign to educate girls in Africa wins Spain’s Princess of Asturias Award

Oviedo, Spain, Jun 16 (EFE).- The campaign for female education in Africa, CAMFED, was on Wednesday granted the prestigious Princess of Asturias Award for International Cooperation.

Created by Ann Cotton in 1993, the organization seeks to eradicate poverty and inequality in Africa by empowering women and girls with education.

The association supports the education of girls in more than 6,700 schools in Zimbabwe, Zambia, Ghana, Tanzania and Malawi.

The foundation has helped over five million children get access to education. EFE
