Man arrested for firing shots inside Australian airport

Sydney, Australia, Aug 14 (EFE).- A man was arrested on Sunday after he allegedly fired several shots inside Australia’s Canberra airport without causing injuries, official sources reported.

The man is believed to be the only person behind the incident and officers have seized a firearm, Canberra police said on Facebook.

After initially being evacuated, the Australian capital’s airport has returned to normal, police added.

Photos provided by EPA-EFE show the impact of at least three shots on the airport window and videos of the suspect’s arrest were shared on social media.

Australia has witnessed some violent actions by “lone wolves” since raising the terrorist alert in 2014.

The most serious was in 2014 in the financial heart of Sydney where a man held hostages in a cafeteria, resulting in the death of two victims and the assailant. EFE
