Djokovic through to Wimbledon last 16 as he beats Kudla

London, Jul 2 (EFE).- World No. 1 Novak Djokovic qualified for the last 16 of Wimbledon with a 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 (7) win Friday against American Denis Kudla.

With his 17th straight victory at the All England Club, the six-time Wimbledon champion has his eyes on equaling Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal with 20 Grand Slam titles.

The Serb’s last loss at Wimbledon in the fourth round was in 2006, when the-then-19-year-old fell to Croatia’s Mario Ancic.

Djokovic’s next opponent will be Chile’s Christian Garin, who defeated Spaniard Pedro Martinez to book his place in the last 16. The pair have faced each other once before, at the 2020 ATP Cup, where the Serb prevailed in two sets. EFE msg/mp/dr
